As we enter 2015 with January approaching fast, it's officially winter. It still might not look - or feel - like it with temperatures at a high of 60.
However, the trends that we are seeing throughput the holiday season and now into the new year are demonstrating the types of weather that are soon to come.
#1
The hairy-fuzzy material
This material has come back from the late 80's, into the new age of sweaters, scarves, cold weather accessories like gloves/hats. This sweater is from H&M, but you can find one almost anywhere. This material comes in all colors, patterns and hues - but I liked this particular sweater over the others because of the V-neck. It's really different for a warm winter sweater. It is slightly cropped, but can still fully cover. This one looks best with a high-waisted pant or skirt.

Patterned shorts
In the photo above, I'm wearing both #2 and #3. The patterned shorts are from Aerie, and they come in a few colors. This one is that winter pattern in grey and white.
The knee-high socks I'm wearing are from Francesca's Boutique. They also have many colors. American Eagle has a few of these as well, and in my opinion they fit more comfortably. There is definitely less room in the ones above compared to some of the others I own.
I love to pair these socks with a cute dress, tights, and boots. It keeps you warm and on trend.

Long sleeved crop tops
For this trend, crop tops are really a 2014 trend, but I thought that the winter patterned ones are just so cute. The one I'm wearing here is from American Eagle, and they had about 10 different styles/colors of this long sleeved crop top. The long sleeves are key here: you can wear a cardigan or jacket over it, but still make it weather appropriate. I would typically wear this top with a high waisted legging, pant or skirt. I like to pair everything in the winter with boots, so I would of course add those.
#5
Flannels
The flannel above is from American Eagle, it's red and blue with a twist - a grey fleece hood. At first glance, it may look a little odd, but with the right outfit, it looks edgy and cozy. I like to pair this top based on what look you are trying to achieve that day. If you're going for something edgy, I would use black pants, leggings, or jeans - slashed or destroyed for best effect - and then use some cozy socks to mirror the fleece hood, and black combat boots. If you wanted a more subtle, cozy vibe, I would use knee-high socks and boots, probably brown or grey. You can go with denim or a legging to complete it. |

Holiday Nails
Holiday Nails
This winter, reds are really the ultimate power color. Above, I have OPI In My Santa Suit, on my nails.(It comes in polish and gel)
Maybelline's trend for the month is Rebel Reds, just like our starbucks cups. Tons of makeup brands, and clothing lines have dedicated the color red to this winter's hottest items.
Another color of winter for nails is the oxblood.maroon hues, like below.

Above I have a few pairs of winter boots that I love to pair with my cozy outfits around this time of year. You can never have too many pairs of boots. The few above are a good variety of height and color to demonstrate the different shapes and looks that are always on trend. Thank you to everyone who enjoys my blogs, and has started this journey with me in 2014, Happy Holidays! |
